A latest report of Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that suicide rate has mounted up among American women. In comparison, the rate has decreased among man in the past two years.
Surprisingly, these days young generation prefer to die with suffocation instead of conventional suicidal methods.
As per the data, rate of suicide through suffocation has doubled in the last ten years. In 1994, around 0.5 percent women followed suffocation technique for suicide. In contrast, approximately 4.5 percent among 100, 00 women utilized this suicidal method in 2014. To be exact, suffocation suicide rates have climbed up to 6.7 percent in females.
However, guns have become the most chosen suicide method in males. Every year, approximately 5.9 per 100, 00 men shoot themselves.
Concerned authorities believe that suffocation and hanging are considered as the most successful suicide methods. Therefore, young Americans are in favor of it rather than drug overdose, jumping, drowning and poisoning.
Dr. Eric Caine, director of the Injury Control Research Center for Suicide Prevention, remarked that suffocation turns person’s first attempt into his last attempt.
Currently, suicide is regarded as fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Every year 5,178 people kill themselves.
