Samsung Introduces Its Latest Quantum Dot Curved Monitors

Samsung will introduce its latest curved monitors powered by quantum dot technology at the upcoming CES edition, which will take place next week.

Whether curved TVs are better than regular ones is still a matter of debate. While some people welcomed them with open arms, other complain about reflections and color quality and accuracy. However, curved monitors are in a league of their own. Because the users sit closer to them, it is easier to control light sources, contrast, and saturation levels. Because more and more people, especially those who are keen on gaming are turning to curved monitors, Samsung took the opportunity to equip its own with quantum dots.

Quantum Dots Technology

Much like OLED displays, quantum dots are semiconductor nanocrystals that allow the display to produce better color accuracy, contrast, and saturation. At the same time, a monitor equipped with quantum dots technology is brighter and functions more efficiently altogether.

Samsung’s Curved Monitors

During the next edition of Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung will introduce three new curved monitor models, namely the CH711, CFG70, and CF791.

The first unit comes in two sizes, 27-inches, and 31.5-inches, with a curvature radius of 1,800mm across the width of the monitor. In terms of color coverage, the CH711 supports 125 percent sRGB and both models boast a 2,560 by 1,440 resolution, no matter the screen size.

The other two units Samsung is already rolling out and also present at the upcoming CES edition also feature the quantum dot technology. However, the curvature radius is somewhat more subtle than on the CH711, with only 1,500R curvature. Nevertheless, the CFG70 makes up for the difference with 144Hz refresh rate, 1080p resolution, 1ms response time, and AMD FreeSync support.

Both 24-inch and 27-inch size options are gamming-oriented and also include advanced calibration options and a Gaming UX interface for a better user optimization.

The CF791 is a 34-inch mammoth with a 21:9 aspect ratio and impressive 2,440 by 1,440 resolution with 4ms response time. Users can also choose to mount this curved monitor on the wall, as well. Ultimately, Samsung will also provide previews of the SH850 WQHD and UH750 gaming monitors in 23.8, as well as 17-inch variants.
