A hero dad from Falmouth, Massachusetts, barely managed to save the life of his one-year-old daughter after she was ferociously mauled by the family’s five-year-old adopted pitbull terrier. According to Captain Brian Reid, the Chief of Falmouth’s Police Department, the attack seems to have been unprovoked. The infant was airlifted in critical condition to a Boston hospital.
Hero Dad Stabs Pitbull Repeatedly to Save Daughter
On Sunday, at approximately 9 a.m., the authorities responded to a 911 call from Brock Kiln Road. Paramedics arrived at the scene discovered a one-year-old infant in critical condition with massive facial trauma.
According to the police, the infant was in the kitchen playing with the family’s dog, a five-year-old pit bull terrier, when the canine attacked her. Hearing the commotion, the girl’s father rushed to the kitchen only to find the dog with its teeth sunk into his daughter’s face.
In a desperate act to save his daughter from the frenzied canine, the hero dad rushed to another area of the house to grab a handgun. Realizing that the gun was unloaded, the father grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the dog several times.
Emergency responders rushed the one-year-old to the local hospital. However, given the extent of her injuries, the child was airlifted to a Boston hospital. For now, the authorities have refused to disclose the infant’s condition, saying only that she had life-threatening massive facial trauma.
When interviewed by the authorities, the hero dad declared that the dog had no history of aggressive behavior, a statement corroborated by the man’s neighbors who said that their dogs often ran off to play with the pit bull.
Conclusion
Baffling enough, even the authorities are somewhat puzzled at the canine’s behavior, given the fact that it wasn’t the first the toddler was left alone with the dog. The girl’s case sparked a town-wide debate over the possible outlawing of this breed, debate spearheaded by Julian Suso, the town’s manager.
