It is well-known that the Windows 10 is a global service, available in 190 markets but now Microsoft designs Windows 10 for Chinese Government.
The Windows 10 came out this year and it brought frenzy into the world of computer users who were looking forward to upgrade their version of Windows for free. The internet was full of tutorials on how to do this and everything went smoothly. Now, as China is such an important country on the market, having the biggest population and a huge number of consumers, not only individuals but especially companies, Microsoft decided to invest a bit more in this high-potential country.
And in order to make sure success is guaranteed they actually made a deal with the Chinese government. The joint venture will license and manage the service for the government agencies in China and some of the companies that are state-owned. Of course, the deal also includes ongoing support for these customers. The joint venture is called C&M Information Technologies and will have the headquarters in Beijing.
Although Microsoft has already been working with other companies in China such as Tencent or Baidu, this new partnership is sure to open the doors to a wide range of possibilities.
The role of the joint venture
The partnership will have three important roles. One is that it becomes the exclusive licensor of Windows 10 for government and state-owned enterprise users. Another one is that they will provide a range of services such as product activation and support, deployment services and patch management. Moreover, the company will make use of the feedback from government users to make improvements to the updates for Windows 10.
Obviously, the joint venture does not mean Microsoft is giving away Windows 10, but they will keep ownership of the technology and will be in charge of the security and privacy of the service.
As we established, this is a good move for Microsoft, not only because China represents a very big market but also because they managed to find the easiest and most productive way of entering the Chinese market by partnering up with the country’s government. In this way, they are sure to make profits and win the market in China in a very short time.
