The Redmond based tech giant Microsoft continues the famous strategy of the biggest names in the world of tech and announces their most recent acquisition. In their struggle to become relevant on the tech market again, the company ran by Satya Nadella as chief executive officer has recently bought the company behind the well known Wunderlist to-do app. And as Microsoft lists German tech company as their latest feature on the transfer list, new perspectives are being opened at the Redmond based giant.
The tech company that Microsoft has officially announced as purchased by Redmond is a young company whose greatest project has been the Wunderlist to-do app. It is a Berlin based tech company called 6Wunderkinder GmbH and the tech analysts who are connected to the matter of Microsoft`s strategy to come back on the right track of the world of technology have estimated that the 6Wunderkinder GmbH has been bought for a price between 100 million dollars and 200 million dollars.
The acquisition has also been recently confirmed by the Wunderlist officials. Among them, Christian Reber, who is a co founder of the company and in the position of chief executive officer has announced the transfer through a post on his blog. As for the team behind the Wunderlist apps for both the iOS and Android operating systems, it looks like they will remain in Berlin, not being a part of the bargain. So, this time, Microsoft only wanted to get their hands on the technology of the Berliners, reckoning that they already have the developers to continue the progress of the Wunderlist tech already.
“Over the next few months as Wunderlist becomes a part of the Microsoft family, we’ll introduce a host of new features, continue growing the ecosystem of partner integrations and progress in delivering Wunderlist to billions of people,”
Reber has written on his blog.
Only two weeks have passed between this announcement and the one who said Wunderlist had merged with Sunrise, a well known calendar app which has been recently bought by Microsoft as well.
The Acompli app has also been bought by the Redmond based company. The e-mail app Acompli and the tech behind Wunderlist and Sunrise might suggest that Microsoft prepares great new features for the mobile devices and the mobile operating system that they develop.
However, both Microsoft and the company behind Wunderlist have declined to provide more details on the merger.
