Kodak has a new smartphone which looks like a camera.

Kodak has decided to come with a different approach this year by revealing its new smartphone which resembles a camera.

The new model is called Ektra and comes with a retro camera design and an impressive 21-megapixel main shooter. The company hopes that this feature will attract many customers when the smartphone hits the market.

Kodak Smartphone Release Date and Price Tag

This 4G LTE phone will be released soon in Europe with a price tag of around $550. Rumour has it the model will also appear on the United States market in 2017, although it was initially announced that the product would be available only in Europe.

Product Specifications

This Kodak Ektra comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in internal storage, while it also has a microSD slot for additional storage expansion. Under the hood, it has a deca-core Helio X20 2.3GHz chipset backed by an USB-C quick charging port and a 3,000mAh battery.

Regarding software, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. For added protection, this smartphone has a Corning Gorilla Glass on the display as well as on the camera lenses.

As previously mentioned, the best feature is the 21-megapixel rear camera which comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), 4K video option, dual LED flash, Auto Focus Phase Detection, and f2.0 lens.

Also, it has a 13-megapixel selfie cam with f2.2 lens. It is worth mentioning that the rear camera has an additional Advanced Manual Mode that provides users with various features such as aperture, shutter speed, white balance, focal length, and ISO.

The pre-set scene mode options include a Smart Auto mode, landscape, macro, and panorama images. For more professional effects, this Kodak smartphone comes with a Super 8 application and an editing software known as Snapseed which offers users various tools for photo editing.

Although it looks like a retro camera, the Ektra has many high-quality features that will make it a strong competitor to other popular brands such as Apple and Samsung. Also, thanks it to its 21-megapixel camera, this smartphone will tackle Sony devices widely-known for their excellent main shooters.

According to CEO Jeff Clarke, Kodak is a company that has one of the richest histories in technological imaging, and the latest smartphone is a solid proof that the officials want to take user experience to the next level.
