Rumors and various leaks were announcing Nintendo’s latest creation since 2016. However, earlier this year, the company officially announced the launch date, price, and specs of the gaming console that will place the Italian plumber in every U.S. gamer’s house. First things first, the Nintendo Switch will hit the shelves on March 3rd, 2017, and will cost gaming aficionados no less than $300 apiece.

One of the most unique features of the Nintendo Switch is that the console is, in fact, a mixture of set-top and handheld gaming devices. This means that gamers will have the possibility to either connect the console to their TVs or play on the go just as easily.

Users will have two choices once the console rolls out: whether to go for gray Jon-Con controllers or multi-colored ones. The gaming console’s dock will allow the users to connect the Nintendo Switch to their TVs effortlessly. Say you need to leave the comfort of your couch but you don’t want to pause the game in fears you might lose any progress. Thanks to its mobility, the Nintendo Switch can easily be pulled out of the dock and gamers can resume their virtual adventures on the go. Furthermore, while using the gaming console in handheld mode, users can connect up to eight other compatible consoles locally via wi-fi for local multiplayer games such as Splatoon 2 or Mario Kart 8.

The gaming console comes with a 720p, 6.2-inch display that also uses a capacitive touch panel. in terms of internal storage capacity, some users might feel a little bit disappointed about the 32Gb of built-in memory the device comes with. However, the good news is that users can easily expand the capacity with a microSDXC memory card.

Nintendo takes pride in the device’s 6-hours battery life. However, the company does warn that it might depend on the usage conditions and software. Nevertheless, the gaming console can be charged while users are still running titles, and per company’s say, Nintendo Switch runs for 3 hours on a single charge while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
