A toy safety group has released a list of the worst toys parents can buy for their kids, not because they are not cool enough, but because they are dangerous.
According to the officials from the World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (WATCH), these toys are potentially harmful to kids because of poor marketing practices, manufacturing, and design.
Based on the statistics, holidays shopping accounts for around 65 percent of all yearly toy sales. Toymakers are now aware of this list and announced that they would address the issue in a short notice.
According to Steve Pasierb, Toy Industry Association CEO, the toy community underlines that customer’s safety comes first. Therefore, the toymakers are committed to developing safe games and toys for many children worldwide.
It is worth mentioning that there are over 100 safety requirements which toymakers must comply to. Below, we have presented the list of the most dangerous toys in 2016.
Slimeball Slinger
This toy launches projectiles which may cause severe eye injuries in kids.
Kids Time Baby Children’s Elephant Pillow
According to the reports from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), this pillow is potentially harmful because it might block a child’s mouth during sleep, thus leading to suffocation.
Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddles Family
These figurines are usually sold to children under three years old. Unfortunately, they are so small that children can choke on them.
Nerf Rival Apollo XV-700 Blaster
The Blaster comes with an ammunition which can cause serious eye injuries. Although on the cover of the toy box it appears that children are wearing protective masks, they are not included in the package.
Banzai Bump n’ Bounce Body Bumpers
These body bumpers are especially dangerous because children don’t wear protective equipment, so they can fall and suffer head and arm injuries from the impact.
Warcraft Doomhammer
Even if this toy is designed for kids over six years old, they can harm each other because the Doomhammer is a large and rigid plastic hammer.
The Good Dinosaur Galloping Butch
Kids must press a button in order to activate this toy. However, its pointed tail can cause puncture wounds.
Peppy Pups
The Peppy Pups is somehow similar with the dinosaur toy. The difference between them is that the Peppy Pups has a 12-inch cord which can easily strangulate a child.
