St. Landry Parish Man Punched Elderly Man and Stole His Phone
According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, on the 9th of February, an 81-year-old man asked 36-year-old Jeffery Brian Moses to move in with him. The authorities could not determine if Moses was destitute, his victim providing him with a home for the time being or if he was in some way related to the octogenarian.
On the 12th of February, the 81-year-old’s daughter went to check up on her father, only to find the man lying on the living room’s floor with a bruised eye and multiple facial lacerations. The victim told his daughter that Moses, his temporary roommate, attacked him while he was fast asleep on his couch, stealing his cellphone and wallet before running away.
The woman immediately notified the authorities who transporter the elderly man to the nearest hospital. Moses was apprehended several hours later and booked into county jail.
When confronted with his assault, the St. Landry Parish man told the investigators that he does not deny being in the victim’s home at the time of the assault. However, he claims that he neither punched the octogenarian nor steal his possessions.
Conclusion
During his interview, the 81-year-old told the authorities that he did not report Moses’ abuse as he was afraid that he might end up in a nursing home. For his deeds, Moses has been charged with one count of simple battery involving an infirmed person and one count of simple robbery. He is being held in county jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
