Both Tesla and GM companies are in the same industry – the car industry. However, both are currently on different levels. As what people usually say, Tesla is not yet on par with GM. GM has a market capitalization of $55 million while Tesla only has a market capitalization of $35 million. This just clearly proves that the two companies are on different phases. However, it is not impossible for Tesla to compete or even go above GM in the future.
Tesla has all the possibility to surpass GM simply because the shares of Tesla are continuously surging while the shares of GM are currently losing. The reason for GM’s share woe is the recalls. The impact of these recalls on GM’s earnings will still continue to effect.
The only thing that might stop Tesla’s shares from advancing and surpassing GM’s shares is the tight competition of electric car in the market. Almost, if not all, big car manufacturers are at a stage of producing all-electric car. Within a few years from now, it is expected that the availability of all-electric cars, which is the forte of Tesla, will be widespread. This will definitely reduce the market share of Tesla in the industry.
