The Minnesota Department of Health reported another death associated with influenza.  It is the fourth pediatric death in the state, according to the official health department report.

The health authorities of Minnesota confirmed that up till now 77 people are hospitalized due to influenza. Fortunately, the number of hospitalization is gradually decreasing with time. Around 77 people were admitted in hospitals in the first week of the flu season. However, this week flu sent merely thirty- three people to the hospitals.

As per the records of health department, two pediatric deaths were witnessed last year.  Thus, these death figures are not an indication of any forthcoming outburst of flu. Certainly, the death of any child is dreadful for both family and state health officials. However, health department do not consider these four deaths unusual in an extreme flu season. Hence, the state health agency has decided not to alter their treatment or response towards this particular issue.

Moreover, the health officials are suggesting people to get influenza shots in order to protect themselves from the lethal flu. Cynthia Harry, an epidemiologist informs that a nasal spray or flu vaccine is extremely beneficial for children who are older than six months

This year, flu is flowing in the country with highest speed. The infection broke all the records of last three years and marked a new history. The drugs and flu shots which doctors generally recommend in flu are no longer effective as they are unable to fight with H3N2 flu strain.
