The researchers invented a snake robot that resolves the complicated issue of slithering up slippery mounds.
The scientists of Professor Daniel Goldman’s Complex Rheology and Biomechanics labs utilized a snake robot in this process. Goldman, along with his coworkers figured out the functioning of the mysterious “sidewinders” of rattlesnake.
The chief aim of the study was to find out the process through which the American rattlesnake moves in a slippery sandbank. It is certainly a very complicated kind of land to wriggle and not every snake can perform it.
Experts executed different experiments on a rattlesnake in order to determine the secrecy of the “sidewinders”. They even painted several deep marks on rattlesnakes of America for this purpose.
Eventually, scientist achieved their goal and revealed the secret of rattlesnake. They carried out the similar thing with the snake robot of the mad-robot labs of Carnegie Mellon University. Mad Robot labs provided a snake robot to the researchers of Goldman lab.
The scientist covered that snakey robot with a fabric to remove the obstacle which sand usually creates in their work.
In the report, Goldman stated that their laboratory experiments unveil significant information regarding this issue. They notified that the increase of the rough angle is directly proportional to the length of the body which comes in contact with the sand. The textile covering of the robot snake makes it easier for robot to climb the sandy slopes.
