Since PAX East pretty much just ended, it is now a good time to talk about some of the reveals that were… umm, disclosed during the convention. Seeing as it’s a gaming convention, there is quite a lot of backstory to cover for every reveal, so we’re only going to talk about some of them, individually.
And we’re going to start with the notorious once-beloved company that is Ubisoft. Still one of the highest sellers worldwide despite repeated attempts from the company to show its fans how little it actually cares about anything other than money, Ubisoft has pretty much turned into the EA of Europe.
Ubisoft general
Anybody who has played any of their recent titles can attest to how little effort is actually put into things like story, character development, gameplay, bug fixing, pretty much everything that makes a video game at least bearable, if not good. But they do have at least some saving merits, particularly in the form of one of two types of games.
These saving merits are generally their non-triple A titles, like Valiant Hearts, Child of Light, the Rayman franchise, I Am Alive, and others that weren’t made specifically to make money. The other type of game into which any effort whatsoever seems to go can be simply referred to as Rainbow Six.
Not a single one of the company’s franchises seems to have as much creative work put into it as Rainbow or the smaller games, as their regular triple A titles are bug-ridden messes, with as much effort put into writing and game design as it would take to convince someone that a Game of Thrones character died.
Rainbow Six Siege
But Rainbow Six continues to be a fan favorite, despite the recent games also being riddled with bugs the size of radroaches. And with the unfortunate habit of separating the game into pieces and asking money for the complete story via DLCs, Rainbow Six Siege doesn’t really seem to any different from Ubisoft’s previous titles. It is, though.
Fortunately for fans that have been patiently waiting for any sort of fixes for the aforementioned bugs, PAX East revealed new Rainbow Six Siege DLC to be announced on the 22nd of April. Very little information was given as to what will be featured in the DLC other than bug fixes and new maps, but we’ll tell you as much as we know.
With the 22nd of April come and gone, what do we know now about the DLC? Still not much. We’ll be getting new maps, new weapon skins, and other similarly pointless and overpriced nothings, but the DLC will also bring us a couple of new Operators, who will most likely be the only thing of use in the entire package.
