The Game Awards 2017 was full of exciting reveals, and some great news for shooter fans. An intriguing and captivating new title will come into being as the result of a collaboration between a series of developers. Those who created Bulletstorm, Painkiller, and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will put out Witchfire. This title is really mysterious, but the reveal trailer was enough to capture everyone’s attention.
Witchfire, a dark fantasy shooter
The main developer The Astronauts described it in a way that definitely fits the trailer, namely a dark fantasy shooter. You can see the main character running among some ruins and battling some mysterious magic creatures. Also, the game can keep you engaged not only during battle sessions, but also while you’re moving around and investigating.
The title is clearly an inspiration from The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, while the other two developers have contributed to the refined gun play in the spirit of Painkiller and Bulletstorm. You’re not going to fight regular enemies, so you’ll benefit from all kind of special weapons. Sometimes, they might not be enough, so you will also get a series of magical abilities as well.
You use both guns and magic to battle your foes
These abilities include telekinesis, and the capacity to move at extremely high speeds. This way, you can take advantage of your surroundings and trick your powerful enemies. However, the details are still scarce but, judging from the trailer and the few information that is out, Witchfire promises to be one of the most exciting upcoming releases.
This definitely has captured your attention, but we have bad news as well. The Astronauts revealed no release date, so nobody knows when Witchfire will be here. It didn’t even mention the platforms for which the title would be created, meaning that it’s currently at a really small stage of development.
