Only a few days after becoming available, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp became the most successful title available on mobile since the release of Super Mario Run. In six days, the game has already recorded over 15 million downloads, according to data released by SensorTower.
Fifteen million downloads in six days
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a mobile game released by Nintendo, where players have to interact with animals and survive in their world. They can talk to all kinds of creatures, and can get their food by fishing or picking it up from trees. The game faced incredible popularity six days after its release on mobile platforms.
It has already surpassed Fire Emblem, as it recorded double the number of its downloads. However, it’s still a long way until it reaches supremacy. The most popular Nintendo mobile game is Super Mario Run, which recorded 32 million downloads in six days. However, there are some differences between the two.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp promotes monetization
Super Mario Run was the first mobile title ever released by Nintendo, and it was initially available only on iOS. Only afterwards did it get to Android as well. This 32-million figure represents the first six days of it being available on both platforms, not the first six days of the initial release.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp differs from Super Mario Run in other terms as well. The main purpose of this game is monetization, as players are encouraged to make purchases and get the chance to advance in the game. At the moment, it occupied the 72nd place in the App Store on the list of apps which bring revenue.
Even if Super Mario Run reached over 200 million downloads during its entire existence, Nintendo didn’t acquire too much revenue from it. Therefore, they hope Pocket Camp will bring a different experience.
