During E3, Bethesda announced that a new Doom game would soon hit PCs and consoles. Called Doom Eternal, Bethesda’s upcoming Doom sequel will pick up the story where the last game left it. Here’s everything you’ll need to know about the game. A word of warning – this article contains a couple of spoilers.
Doom Eternal to Feature a War-Torn Earth
Because nothing beats a couple of rounds in Doom after a hard day at the office, Bethesda announces that new Doom game is on the way.
Unfortunately, all we know so far is that game’s called Doom Eternal and, based on Bethesda’s E3 teaser trailer; it will probably take place on Earth or possibly on a human colony.
As you know, the last Doom ended with Samuel Hayden’s betrayal and his promise of releasing the faceless space marine when the time is right.
Despite Hayden’s blatantly G-Man-like demeanor, Bethesda’s ending hinted that the Doom guy’s story is far from over. Still, given the fact that all four Doom games plus the countless mods and fan-made stuff, were all happening on Mars, it’s reasonable to assume that Bethesda’s been compelled to choose an entirely different setting.
Now, based on the teaser trailer, the plot appears to place in a war-torn, Earth-like world. Again, we don’t know for sure if that’s really our planet, but it does appear to be a human settlement.
From what we can tell, Hayden’s plans to contain the big boss of Hell failed, meaning that demons are running amok. This shouldn’t come as a surprise given that UAC’s top cat was Hell-bent on siphoning energy from the other side, regardless of costs.
Conclusion
And now comes the $1 million question – how did Doom guy escape Hayden’s cage? Well, as always, we will have to stick around to find out.
