According to the authorities, on Tuesday, 34-year-old Lucio Lopez, was taken into custody and charged with animal abuse. The California man, who also has an additional arrest warrant, allegedly tried to discipline a kitten who entered his apartment.
Lopez’s affidavit states that upon returning home, at around 2:45 a.m., a stray kitten followed Lopez into his apartment. Reportedly, the man got angry and decided to discipline the kitten in a cruel manner.
He took the feline and stuck her in the freezer. If that wasn’t enough, Lopez took the kitten out of the freezer and begun squeezing her so hard, that the kitten began screaming in agony. In an attempt to get rid of her, the California man simply tossed the cat out the window.
The kitten hit the concrete pavement after a two-story fall. Luckily, someone was in the neighborhood and alerted the authorities.
Lopez was shortly arrested, and the kitten taken to the vet’s office. According to the emergency room staff, the kitten, named Olive, had a fractured leg and several chest injuries following her ordeal. The vets said that Olive would pull through, but still needs surgery in order to survive.
