Creating a `Hall of Fame` for the world of video games is a sure proof that the video games, electronics and tech have come to represent a considerable part of our lives. And, even more importantly, of the world market. Now, people celebrate the products that made millions and also made children smile, laugh or, sometimes, cry in a somehow emotional ceremony, in order to emphasize the impact of some historic video games to the past, present and future of the field. We invite you to grab popcorn and check out the first inductees to the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
The selection is by no means disappointing. And while it has been made by some video game experts and enthusiasts, gamers as well will come to agree with the titles which have been chosen for the first introduction for the Hall of Fame of video games.
The first class of the World Video Game Hall of Fame includes `Pong`, the legendary title which has attracted millions into electronic gaming. Pong was released in 1972 and it is now one of the first 6 video games to be honored by an introduction to the Hall of Fame.
Another classic is featured on the prestigious list. `Doom`, the sci fi horror First Person Shooter was released in 1993 and now joins the Hall of Fame alongside Pong.
The two classics are happy to enter the Hall of Fame together with the Nintendo title of 1985, Super Mario Bros. Grazie, Nintendo.
You might remember the times when arcades were the coolest thing around. Even in the present, it does not matter to a large majority of children that they own a high performance fourth generation console. Arcade are still a fun place to go, even though they lack in graphics, gameplay and multiplayer experience. So, if you are nostalgic about those times or enjoy taking your kid to the arcades, you will be happy to hear that the 1980 title Pac-Man has also made the list.
The first class of the World Video Game Hall of Fame also includes the Russian Import “Tetris” of 1984. That game was not much, it did not change the world of video gaming for the better or influenced genres, still we could not stop playing it. It is for sure one of the best in history.
And, finally the list closes with what is now considered to be the best MMORPG in the history of video gaming. In 2004, Blizzard Entertainment has released World of Warcraft, a game which has been the most played in the world for a period of time and one that does not fail to amaze us with every new patch.
