Vernon Hale, the Galveston Chief of Police, declared during Wednesday’s press conference that the body of the 4-year-old child found in the water last month had been positively identified. The authorities said that a Dallas mother and her girlfriend have been arrested and charged in connection with the boy’s disappearance and murder.
Dallas Mother Said Boy Suffered from a Head Injury after Running into Wall
On Wednesday, Police Chief Hale declared that the body found in the water belongs to Jayden Alexander Lopez, the son of Rebecca Rivera, a Dallas mother, who shares her Galveston home with Jayden’s sibling and her live-in girlfriend, Dania Amezquita-Gomez.
According to the investigators, Rivera admitted to beating little Jayden, because she was having issues with her girlfriend.
More than that, the woman said that a week before the child’s death, Jayden ran into a brick wall. Apparently, he sustained critical facial and head injuries during the accident.
Instead of seeking medical help, the Dallas mother took her son home and used alcohol to disinfect the wound.
However, while tending to her child, the woman got into an argument with Amezquita-Gomez.
Apparently, the argument was so intense, that the woman spilled the contents of the alcohol bottle on the child’s face.
Several weeks after his accident, Jayden’s face began to swell. Rivera told the authorities that the child grew more lethargic and that he would often complain of stomach aches.
Conclusion
On the night Jayden passed away, Rivera was arguing with her live-in girlfriend.
Seeing that the child was no longer breathing, the Dallas mother placed the child’s body in the car and drove to the beach with Amezquita-Gomez and Jayden’s sibling.
The woman told the investigator that she tossed the child’s body into the water because the boy enjoyed being at the beach.
