"Coffee does not increase heartbeat"

Caffeine has no effect on your heartbeat

For a long time coffee or caffeine to be exact has been blamed for many health problems but it seems that drinking coffee will not increase your heartbeat.

Health problems caused be caffeine

Although there have been many studies which linked coffee to cancer, either as a cause of risk increase or as one of risk decrease. It has also been linked to insomnia, headaches and heart palpitations. Fortunately, for coffee lovers, recent studies have shown there is nothing to fear regarding caffeine in connection with heart problems.

The problem was not necessarily the palpitations but the fact that in time they may lead to complications such as cardiac arrests. A team of scientists from the University of California have conducted a study that suggests caffeine is not a problem for the heart and moreover, it could actually bring potential health benefits to the drinkers.

The findings of the study

The researchers have analyzed consumption of products containing caffeine such as coffee, chocolate and tea among 1,388 participants. 61 percent of them actually consumed more than once a day a caffeinated product. While monitoring the subjects’ hearts, scientists couldn’t observe any abnormalities, concluding the consumption of such products is not necessarily associated with a higher pulse rate.

Besides, this is not the only study that points towards the benefits of coffee. Last year, a team of scientists from South Korea studied a number of 25,000 adults who used to drink 3 to 5 coffees daily. According to their findings, these adults actually had a decreased risk of developing coronary heart diseases.

Coffee should be drunk with care

The study conducted by the researchers in San Francisco was published in the American Heart Association Journal. The research only included healthy individuals and no people with pre-existing heart conditions or even higher heart pulse rate.

Therefore, researchers do believe that caffeine does not increase the risk for any heart conditions and could actually benefit consumers. However, if someone already has a heart condition, it is advised that they either decrease their caffeine consumption or completely eliminate it from their daily diets along with other products which could have a more negative impact on their health such as alcohol or nicotine.
