E-Cigarettes Cause Dependence Just Like Tobacco! Since e-cigarettes appeared almost ten years ago, they have become more and more popular, as people actually considered them to be a viable alternative for smokers everywhere. They have no idea that electronic cigarettes are, in fact, just as harmful as real ones are, according to the latest studies of researchers.
The journal Tobacco Control published a striking piece on this subject, and it seems that the results are not satisfying at all. There is a substance nameD pyrazine, which is extremely addictive, that is to be found even in low-tar ones. So, bad, bad news…! This substance explains actually why so many people that trying to quit smoking are not at all successful in doing so.
The nicotine patches seems to fall under the same category as a “false friend”, as things happen the same in their case a well, namely addicts have only their short term cravings diminished, whereas the long term ones still remain just as strong. Smokers need to lead a very hard battle with themselves and in most cases, they become addicted again.
The pyrazine was actually supposed to have the role of making the cigarettes have a richer taste. Vaping is the action that is supposed to give you the same feeling as the one you have when you are smoking, namely the rush of nicotine that activates the release of dopamine and stimulate the brain’s pleasure center. This neurotransmitter is extremely important in brain chemistry.
Low-tar cigarettes were first considered a great alternative for regular ones, when people first started fearing the negative effects of traditional tobacco. When the studies first show that smoking for years might lead to cancer, smokers everywhere were somewhat frightened and companies started looking for new solutions. Addictions are hard to abandon, so they tried to come up with a sort of surrogate.
When smokers complained about the bad taste of low tar cigarettes, the makers started introducing some additive substances, in order to enhance the smoking experience and its fallout. Since 1990, these additives started being used in the production of cigarettes and manufacturers were sued many times.
