A dispute over agreement between Blue Shield of California and Sutter Health compels nearly 280,000 Northern and Central California customers to change their doctors.
The last agreement between Sutter and Blue Shield was expired on the 31st of December. Sutter informs that blue shield wants to decrease the payment of the health care provide. If the health firms failed to resolve the dispute then policyholders have to pay double amount in order to get the services
Bill Gleeson, a spokesman of Sutter states that the biggest health insurance company asking to cut the expenses. The slash in payment would badly affect the requirements of patients.
On the other hand, Blue Shield says that Sutter charges are double as compared to the rest of the providers. Paul Markovich, CEO of Blue Shield says that it is not possible for the company to pay additional amount.
Last week, Blue Shield informed around 139,000 consumers that they should get ready to leave the Sutter Health Network. It is expected that the health plan provider would notify the rest of the 140,000 customers till the end of January.
A large number of customers become worried after the news. Stephen Lawton, a consumer of Blue Shield says that he has been visiting to a physician since 1976. Hence, it would be certainly dangerous for him to change the doctor.
