On Monday, a jury found 20-year-old Gonzalo Curiel guilty on two counts of first-degree murder and torture. Court documents show that Curies and 42-year-old Tami Huntsman, his ex-girlfriend, orchestrated the deaths of the accused’s younger siblings, a 3-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old boy. Huntsman pleaded guilty to two counts of homicide in early February.
According to the police report, back in December 2015, several law enforcement agents found a 9-year-old boy locked inside a black SUV. The victim had several bruises and a broken collarbone.
Following the boy’s discovery, the authorities were directed to a storage unit near Redding, rented by Curiel’s family.
Upon serving a search warrant, the detectives discovered two dead infants inside the storage unit. According to the authorities, their bodies were placed in plastic containers. The coroner’s report revealed that the children died because of torture.
Following the grim discovery, the authorities took Curiel and his girlfriend in custody. During the police interview, Huntsman confessed that the Northern California man talked her into taking care of his siblings.
More than that, the woman provided detectives with insight on how the individual disciplined his siblings when they were ‘out of line.’ According to the woman’s confession, the children were stripped naked, drenched in ice-cold water, and finally beaten with a showerhead.
