We all love to win games but on the other hand we all hate the cheaters. Even if there are some who need significance to their victories, something to make them feel worth of the win, for the greatest part of the players, in any domain, the most important is the success, forgetting about the means through which one has achieved it. This makes the cheaters undesirable for any area of activity. With over 100,000 players banned from World of Warcraft, a serious massage has been transmitted to the WoW players and gamers in general: Blizzard does not like cheater at all.
World of Warcraft has already got a reputation of a respected MMORPG which also respects itself and the players who pay subscription in order to benefit from a high quality video game. This time the scandal emerged after investigations turned out the fact that Word of Warcraft was experiencing an ugly form of large scale botting. Botting usually comes up when a game becomes very popular and can generate amounts of satisfaction, or more commonly, money to players that know how to profit from the game`s popularity and from illicit software.
The bots basically play your account without you being involved in the action. The third party software generates gameplay even if there is no real player. Blizzard has found and sanctioned more than 100,000 accounts that used botting.
“We’re committed to providing an equal and fair playing field for everyone in World of Warcraft, and will continue to take action against those found in violation of our Terms of Use. Cheating of any form will not be tolerated”
the company has said in a statement in connection to the matter.
The accounts who have been found as botting have received a six months ban from the World of Warcraft. Most of them were using a third party software called Honorbuddy. This program was responsible for automatically accomplishing the tasks that the players had to accomplish by themselves. By doing so, an account who relies on botting behaves unfairly to the other players, that have obstacles like jobs or school or friends which do not allow them to progress as rapidly as a cheating account can.
World of Warcraft is a MMORPG known for the time consuming tasks that it assigns to the players throughout the game. Raising the blacksmithing skill or trying to get some Honor points in order to purchase epic player vs. player gear for their characters could take the players an immense amount of their free time.
