The most unlikely objects in our household are actually the dirtiest, so we might stop and think a bit before deciding to eat something without washing our hands, or taking our phones with us while on the toilet. Smartphones are on the top of the dirty list, so maybe we should stop taking them with us everywhere, and abandon them at least when we are using the bathroom.
Stop taking your phone everywhere
Since the cold season is already here, the flu has already started making victims. However, most of the time, germs are to blame for its massive spread, so we should take some time and be careful with what we touch. Handwashing is vital, but sometimes it’s not always enough.
If the surfaces which surround us are not clean, the effect of the handwashing might instantly go away when we touch them. Therefore, experts advise us to properly disinfect those items which contain the most germs. These include door handles or smartphones.
These devices go with us everywhere, they touch our faces, hands, and ears, and we have them with us even when sitting on the toilet. However, microbiologists tell us this is a bad mistake. If you touch your phone after using the toilet, but before managing to wash your hands, you facilitate the bacteria transmission.
Proper disinfection should keep germs away
The toilet is covered in many harmful bacteria, which can easily get on the phone and thrive there. Then, the bacteria can easily get on our hands and face, and lead to the development of serious infections and diseases. Therefore, if you can’t keep your phone away, try to clean it instead. A pair of antibacterial wipes can solve the problem anytime.
Our house is full of objects which harbor germs, as they hide in the most unlikely places. Keeping a proper hygiene, such as disinfecting the surfaces more often and regularly changing sponges or towels, should prevent us from developing infections.
