A latest research proposes that aspirin that side effects of aspirin are greater as compared to its benefits.
Aspirin is a popular drug among heart patients. It controls the abnormal heartbeat of the patients. Additionally, it prevents the formation of blood clot in the arteries. Blood clot is one of the major causes of heart strokes and heart attacks. Hence, aspirin should be given to the people who have a blood clot issue.
Generally, doctors prescribe it to patients who suffered from ischemic stroke or heart attack. A latest report of American Heart Association, aspirin would be recommended to at least 6 percent to 10 percent heart stroke in the next ten years.
However, a group of researchers of Baylor College of Medicine found that U.S cardiologists recommend aspirin to 68,808. However, 7,972 of these patients are taking it unnecessarily as they are at a very low risk of heart strokes. In short, around 11.6 percent patients are taking excessive aspirin drugs.
Moreover, the study reveals that aspirin would not lessen the risk of heart strokes of a healthy human. In people who are at a low risk, aspirin can give birth to several other health related issues.
Dr. Ravi Dave, a cardiologist at UCLA Medical Center informs that aspirin can increase the hazards of bleeding in stomach.
The study is published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
