App Store Sets New Record At the Start Of 2015

Today, Apple has proclaimed that the first week of January set another record for billings from the App Store with clients all over the globe spending about half a billion dollars on applications and in-application buys, and New Year’s Day 2015 denoted the single biggest day ever in App Store sales history.

These breakthroughs follow a record-breaking 2014, in which billings climbed 50% and applications produced over $10 billion in income for developers. So far, App Store developers have earned a total $25 billion from the sale of applications and games. The preface of iOS 8, the most noteworthy iOS overhaul ever, gave developers the capacity to make stunning new applications and offers inventive gimmicks which demonstrated fiercely admired with App Store clients around the globe.

“Current year is headed toward a marvelous start after a record-breaking year for the App Store and our developer group,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior VP of Internet Software and Services. “We’re so pleased with the vision and advancement developers bring to the applications they make for iOS clients and that the developer group has now earned over $25 billion.”

Apple ignited the application revolution with the launch of the App Store in 2008, and from that point forward, a whole industry has been built around app design and developemnt. In only 6-years, the iOS network has helped make 627,000 jobs in the US alone.* The App Store offers more than 1.4 million applications for iphone, ipad and ipod touch clients in 155 nations around the globe, with more than 725,000 of these applications made for ipad. App Store clients can browse an amazing range of applications in 24 categories, including games, social networking, photo & video, sports, health & fitness, travel, kids and many more.
